WHAT'S YOUR SIGNATURE SCENT?

Hey guys.

I dont I've ever blogged about perfume on here, which is shocking since I'm completely obsessed with perfume and have been for a while! I have a small collection going that I love and am very proud of.
This might seem a little strange but I'm always curious to know what people would have as a favourite Perfume.

Tell you what, I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours!

Basically the picture below contains a picture of my entire perfume collection thus far and the three smaller pictures on the right are the three faves. What??? you really thought I'd be able to pick just one? HA!

1. MAMBO - Liz Claiborne
 - Great perfume and my number one favourite. Mambo captures the rhythm and flirty spirit of the women who wear it. Its sensuality dances across the skin with rich notes of succulent mango, vibrant mandarin and the intense floral essence of ylang. Hypnotic notes of orange blossom, pink ginger, and the seductive aroma of red hibiscus make Mambo more intense. A sensual touch of exotic woods is romanced by the warmth of vanilla and musk, and the fire of sandalwood. AWESOME!

2.  GOLDEN DELICIOUS - DKNY
 - Smells heavanly, and great for a date night or an evening where you want to seem mature and sexy. DKNY Golden Delicious celebrates luxury and splendor with its rich and accentuated aromas of juicy 'Golden delices' apple, accompanied by orange blossom and Mirabelle plum. An opulent floral heart offers a bouquet of white roses, surrounded with Casablanca lilies, lily of the valley and vanilla orchid, while base caresses with notes of musk followed by a sensual woody trail of sandalwood and teak. AMAZING!

3. FOREVER - Mariah Carey
 - Though its a Celebrity Perfume, It actually smells great. Its sweet, sexy and it radiates "pretty" ... if that makes sense! It is a modern and opulent floral rhapsody, opening with neroli, lotus and green apple. Innocent and pure notes are supplemented with accords of tuberose and gardenia at the heart, while the base consists of sensual white musk and exotic wood. Combining notes of white flowers in this fragrance, its creator wanted to create sensual femininity and glamour…DEVINE!

What is your signature scent?

Get The Green Tea Glow!

Hi!
You all know that I’m not one to forego my morning cup of coffee.
It is a staple in my morning routine and I look forward to the flavor and the caffeine that wakes me up each morning. It is especially important to me since I have insomnia most nights and can rarely fall asleep earlier than midnight. BUT…that said, I am going to try and tackle a new challenge this upcoming month… I’m going to try to make the switch from coffee to green tea!

According to Natural News, green tea naturally contains caffeine. It’s not nearly as much as a cup of coffee, so it will reduce my caffeine intake by about 70%, which I think will help regulate my energy levels throughout the day. I started doing some research about the goodness of green tea and I found some facts that got me really excited to make the switch. Read them below—you just might be tempted to take the green tea challenge along with me...

  •  Green tea has tons of antioxidants.
Antioxidants, which can help prevent cancer, are so important for our bodies, according to WebMD. Sip up for a healthy body and a longer life!

  •  Green tea boosts your metabolism.

Livestrong reports that green tea can increase your 24-hour energy levels while burning fat at the same time. So, if you can’t make it to the gym one day, sip some green tea and reap the benefits.

  •  Green tea gives your skin a glow.

Those antioxidants that also help you fight off diseases will also fight off free radicals that cause skin damage and cause breakouts, according to LaurenConrad.com. This means that brewing a cup of green tea will help to calm your skin if it’s that time of the month or if you are recovering from a bad sunburn!

How could you not want a cup of this miracle tea after reading those fun facts?! Do you drink green tea? Will you take my challenge and make the switch from coffee to green tea? Get your glow on!

xoxo,
Sharlene

DEAR COFFEE:

I think I must be really craving caffeine this morning (and thinking about My  Dear Coffee posts from a while ago), because I decided to write this letter to my trusty friend, coffee.Dear Coffee…It’s been a while since I have posted about coffee on here, but by now you should know that I really love you. LOL, so I really do think about you a lot. But today I want to chat about how I have a whole latte love for your cousin, the latte…See, coffee, I really love you but I’m also super into lattes right now. They’re made with a shot of espresso (or two or three if you are really needing a boost!) and steamed milk, which is foamy and delicious. Lately I’ve seen so many different latte options at coffee places around White Rock and I’m interested to try them. You can get a latte with whole milk, nonfat milk, soy milk, almond milk, and even coconut milk at some places. And on top of that, there are tons of flavors out there like vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, and many more. So basically there are so many ways to customize your latte.Anyways, coffee, I don’t want you to think I don’t love you still—I do! I’m just having a bit of a latte moment. But you will always be my first true love :)xoxo,Sharlene (and all my latte lovers out there!)Soooo basically this morning is off to a great start. LOL!What’s your favorite coffee drink of all time?Share your silly thoughts and letters in the comments below!xoxoSharlene

The Best Cake Eyeliners

Frequently used by professional makeup artists, cake eyeliner delivers a dynamic, defined look to any eye makeup. Worn thin, the liner looks chic and classy. Worn thick, cake eyeliner adds instant drama and flirty sex appeal. The best cake eyeliner should not only be easy to apply, but also maintain its precise perfection throughout the day.

Brand

As with any beauty product, what works best for one fashionista might be a fashion disaster for another. Typically, the more expensive a product, the better the quality. While that statement might ring true with certain luxury beauty brands, you’ll certainly be able to find plenty of budget-friendly options that give you a perfect eyeliner look. If there’s a particular brand of eye makeup you always use, you might find that their cake eyeliner works best for you. If you’re not loyal to any specific brand, test a few different brands to find your perfect match. Many beauty stores and departments allow you to test products before you buy.

Texture

Cake eyeliner has a thick, dense texture and a rich, bold color. If the term “cake” conjures up images of soft, fluffy birthday cake, you might be confused on the texture. The texture of cake eyeliner is more like the texture of the dirt that’s caked onto your favorite riding boots. The texture is similar to eyeshadow, yet slightly smoother and denser. The best cake eyeliner has a soft, velvety texture. When mixed with a liquid, it should turn into a thick gel for easy application.

Application

Apply cake eyeliner with a thin eyeliner brush. While some cake eyeliners can only be worn wet, the best cake eyeliners allow two main options for wear. For a subtle smoky look, apply the liner dry. For a cleaner, more sophisticated look, apply it wet. The instructions guide you to use either water or a specialized sealing liquid. Add just a small amount of liquid to the liner on the back of your hand and swirl around until you get a smooth gel. Look for a liner that requires very little liquid to achieve the perfect consistency -- this saves you valuable time and money.

Wear

There’s not much worse than glancing into the mirror at work or during your date to find that your eyeliner has turned into an awful mess. As with all beauty products, there will be some cake eyeliners that stay perfect on your pretty little lids -- and some that don’t seem to stay put for longer than five minutes. Unfortunately, it takes a bit of trial and error to find your perfect match. Look for a cake eyeliner that stays in place throughout the day without smudging, smearing, running, collecting in the corner of your eyes or completely wearing off. When testing out cake eyeliners before you buy, don’t simply test out the ease of application and the immediate look. Instead, spend the whole day in the eyeliner and re-assess before you wash your face for the night. If you still love the look, a quick trip back to the store is all you need to acquire the newest item in your beauty arsenal.

How To Cover Up your Dark Circles Perfectly!! Goodbye Dry and Cakey!

When the circles under your eyes are the first thing people notice, take fast action to neutralize the circles. Watch out, though, because your fix might cause even more problems if you don’t choose a moisturizing product and apply it right. Cover up dark under-eye circles without making them look dry and cakey to create a smooth and flawless skin tone on your gorgeous face

 1. Wash your face with your favorite cleanser and pat your skin dry gently with a soft towel.

 2. Slather on the moisturizing eye cream under your eyes while your skin is still slightly moist from washing. Rub in the cream gently to the entire area under your eyes.

 3. Apply a light layer of liquid concealer under your eyes, touching the applica
tor oh-so-gently to the skin. Don’t go crazy with the concealer -- start with just a smidgen and use more if you need it.

 4. Rub in the concealer with your clean fingertips to coat the skin and make the circles disappear. Keep going until you work the concealer in completely.

 5. Check your face out in the mirror. If you can still see shadows beneath your eyes, apply another light layer of concealer and work it in again with your fingertips. When your skin looks flawless, you’re almost done.

 6. Add a light layer of foundation over your entire face, blending it into the areas under your eyes carefully. You don’t need to cover the under-eye area with foundation -- you already did that with the concealer. Just blend the concealer and the foundation seamlessly for a perfect look.

 7. Load the makeup brush with the light powder and dust it over your face carefully. The powder will help set the concealer and foundation, keeping it from creasing, drying and looking cakey.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Match your liquid concealer and foundation perfectly to create an impeccable finish!!

HEALTHY HABITS: 7 FOODS THAT BEAT THE BLUES

I know that soaking up some sunshine always helps me to lighten up, and catching up on sleep allows me to de-stress too.

I was browsing the web as usual and I actually came across some really great stuff!

Take a peek below and get ready to be pleasantly surprised!

  1. Stressed? Chew on chocolate! Expert health and nutrition blogs like Livestrong say that nibbling on this yummy treat can help reduce stress hormones that can make you moody. Even eating just a tiny bit has proven to reduce anxiety and keep you level headed. Dark chocolate is more effective (and healthier) at reducing stress than milk chocolate, so remember that when you need a sweet pick-me-up!
  2. Sluggish? Snack on a spinach salad! Besides being amazing for your health, spinach will also give you an energy boost in the middle of the school day or workday. These leaves have yummy nutrients that help increase blood flow to your brain and help you to recall information, according to WomansDay.com. Eat up to be strong, smart, and alert… just like Popeye! LOL.
  3. Cranky? Eat an apple with peanut butter! I know I get cranky when I haven’t eaten in a while, and sometimes feeling grumpy just means you need a little snack. Apple slices with peanut butter are a great way to boost your mood because this snack won’t give you a sugar crash (it only has natural sugars) and the peanut butter has healthy proteins that will increase your energy levels too.
  4. Anxious? Try a salmon burger! Ok, I know this one is random, but there’s truth behind it, according to Health.com! Salmon is a really good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are nutrients that will help to calm you down during the day. In fact, regularly eating foods with omega-3s has even been proven to keep you a happy camper! A salmon burger is a yummy way to switch up a traditional American hamburger. Add some veggies and toppings and you’ll basically be eating away anxiety…in a good way! So cool!
  5. Angry? Sip on green tea! I think green tea is a really refreshing drink, and I like to pour mine over ice on a hot afternoon. I’ve read about so many benefits of this drink, including lowering your cholesterol, preventing cancer, and giving you a healthy dose of antioxidants. But little did I know that it actually helps to keep you calm, concentrated, and focused too. If you’re angry about something and it keeps bugging you in the back of your mind all day, grab a green tea, take a deep breath, and say ahhhh
  6. Sad? Munch of a bowl of cereal! Ok, first of all, I don’t want any of you to be sad…ever! I want you to always have smiles on your pretty little faces :) But for those downer days when you do need a little happiness boost, a bowl of healthy cereal and milk can do just the trick. Sometimes we get sad because our bodies aren’t getting the right vitamins. Vitamin D, which is in milk and healthy cereals, helps to promote happy thoughts in your brain. According to Shape, not getting enough Vitamin D throughout the day can really bum you out, so drink up! A good way to give your body this boost every day is to have a good ol’ bowl of cereal for breakfast.
  7. PMSing? Make an egg-salad sandwich! All you ladies out there, this one’s for you. You might automatically reach for ice cream or salty chips to cure your cravings when it’s that time of the month, but these foods can actually make you feel grumpier because they don’t give your body the right nutrition. An egg-salad sandwich on whole grain toast should be your new best-PMS-food-friend. Eggs have happiness-boosting nutrients, and healthy carbs like whole grain breads are a healthy, alternative way to satisfy your cravings for bagels and chips.
If I were you, I would bookmark this page and make it your go-to guide for when you need to beat the blues.

Well, what did you think!? What mood boosting food looks the yummiest to you? If you have any of your own tried-and-true tips for beating the blues, share them in the comments below!

TGIF: Movies to see

Friday nights tend to be the nights when everyone's feeling good and ready to celebrate the weekend.
Fridays are nights that represent letting loose and having fun, which is why I'm starting a TGIF series that I'll post every friday.

Basically it's going to consist of fun ways to spend ones Friday evening. I thought I'd start off with something that everyone can relate to and enjoy: The Movies!

If you love going to the movies to watch to kick back and relax after a week of nothing but hard work, I have some movie suggestions that might appeal to you:

1. Snow White and the Hunstman: (I've seen this)

and...

 2. What to Expect When You’re Expecting:  (really want to see this one)

Dear Coffee...

More than any other day of the week, it tends to be Monday and Friday mornings that you need a cup of coffee most. For coffee lovers, nothing else really compares. That’s why this Friday morning, I wanted to take the time to thank coffee. There is perhaps no greater source of motivation on those tired, sleepy mornings at the end of the week than a simple cup of just that. Especially since Friday is my only Morning shift of the entire week. So, without further ado, a thank-you letter to coffee:

Dear Coffee,

It's mornings like this that make me appreciate how wonderful you truly are. I am so glad you were brought to this earth as a tiny bean so that we can brew you and enjoy you.

I prefer you with two teaspoons of sugar and a tiny bit of milk. But some people prefer you iced. And some people prefer you with cream. Some people even prefer you with nothing at all, a great testimony to how perfect you really are.

I just wanted you to know… because sometimes, there is nothing better on a tiresome morning than a good ole cup of joe.
xoxo,
Sharlene (+ the rest of the world!)

Summer Manicure...

Hi! I just wanted to share this summery cute French manicure that I found while browsing on-line. I love the colors and think it is such a creative way to do a pastel manicure this spring. I am addicted to nail art and I get super excited when I see something I haven't dont before. As a French manicure loyalist, I’m intrigued by the diagonal tips in this design. I don’t know that I would have ever thought to do that, but I have to say, I love the result! I haven't done it on my self yet so I thought I'd just use the picture that inspired me for this post.

To do a diagonal tip on your French manicure, you would either need to tape off the section that you will be painting white ahead of time, or just have a really steady hand and use a brush for a little bit of a softer edge. It almost looks snow-capped in this photo...

What do you think of this funky French manicure? Is this something you think you would try, and if so, what colors would you use? Let me know below!

Décor Idea: Flower Jar

Hi there people! I saw this idea for a lovely flower jar while browsing on-line the other day and fell in love with it so much just had to share! I'm totally doing this when I renovate my room this summer!

To make a pretty rose jar like the one above, the pinner suggests clipping rose heads before the flower has died to ensure they are open and in bloom like the ones above. Then carefully arrange them within a glass container and seal with a lid!

This jar makes a great table accent, bookend, or would even be a pretty centerpiece. The size of the jar will make a big difference in this craft, so just pick something proportional to the rest of your setup. :)

Do you save any flowers? What are some other nice things you can do with them?

Tips For Healthy Hair...

As some of you may know, I have had a hard time with my hair's upkeep, and it's not like i just wanted it long or something that normal girls struggle with, i want it thick, dark, long, soft, and shiny. My hair is now just as long as my extensions, so at work, I dont normally use them but everywhere else i do because it gives me thick hair with shine and texture.

Extensions are one answer, but there are other ways to keep your hair looking fabulous without having to spend so much time and energy on it. I'm new at this and always learning and I just researched these little tips for hair, skin, nails, etc..that I'm eager to try out, Check them out and let me know what you think!

 1) Drink a Lot of Water

A basic guideline is to drink half your weight in ounces of water each day. That might sound like a lot, but it’ll keep your skin moisturized and looking amazing!

 2) No Hair Ties to Bed

Take out those hair ties before you crawl into bed. If they are worn tight while you sleep they can break the strands of your hair and you’ll end up with those pesky fly-aways.

 3) Get In That Nighttime Face Washing

No matter how tired you are, wash your face with a gentle cleanser before bed. It takes away all of the yucky oil and dirt that can cause acne. Keep some face towelettes by the bed if you need to. It’s better than waking up with a big zit!

 4) Be Kind to Your Hangnails

I know it’s tempting, but if you pick a hangnail it could damage your nail bed or even end up getting infected, and that’s definitely no fun. Instead, simply clip the hangnail and file until smooth.

5) Don’t Wash Your Hair Everyday

Washing your hair too often will cause it to dry out and break more easily. The natural oils help to condition your hair. Try washing every other day to every two days. Follow those 5 easy tips and I promise you’ll get more beautiful hair, skin, and nails. But if you want a little extra help, it doesn't hurt to also take your vitamins.

I Need Some Coffee Loving...

I never thought I’d say this, but I am really loving coffee these days. I just started drinking it randomly a while back and now I probably have a cup every morning. I even find myself craving the taste when I wake up and now I have a cup pretty much every morning.

I guess you could say my coffee habit was inevitable considering my mother has one of those super easy to use kettle thing. Since it's is so simple, I haven’t had to learn how to make coffee the traditional way. I just buy the little coffee cans, pop some in my cute little Disney mugs and voila—I have a deliciously yummy cup of hot coffee. I like French Vanilla coffee mix that you can buy from Tim hortens or I like nestle coffee powder with some French vanilla flavoured syrup and a splash of milk.

When I’m craving something a little sweeter I use almond milk since it definitely gives it a nice warm nutty flavor. I also add in some sugar too, which add a tad of sweetness as well. But if I'm making the coffee then I make it pretty darn strong. I really like the almond milk and FV syrup combination because it makes me feel like I’m drinking a super sugary, Starbucks-like drink that’s actually a lot more healthier than it tastes. Recently, I’ve dabbled into iced coffee when I’m out and about with friends, but I’m still not hooked on them yet. Usually I only drink them when my friends get one… Maybe it will catch on soon? Do you drink iced coffee? If so, any suggestions for me?

I used to live Timmies Iced caps and now I prefer the Regular McDonalds Iced Coffee's!

Random Thoughts: Stress?

I think that everyone deals with stress differently. Some people like to address the problems that are stressing them out head on and others prefer to just take their mind off things and hope that the stress fizzles out. I’m definitely in the second category; I’m more of a stress-avoider. When I’m really stressed out I like to just escape it by doing enjoyable activities like reading a book or watching a movie. Just anything that will help me take my mind off of whatever’s making me stressed. If it’s something I’m really dreading and getting nervous about, I find it’s easier sometimes to just go to bed early and sleep it off. A lot of people like to confront whatever’s stressing them out head on and just get over it, but I deal with things better if I just take a deep breath and decide to take my mind off of things. A stress escape artist, if you will.

Glitter Keys??

So I had my house key customised to fit my childish personality a while ago. But now I feel like I've somewhat outgrown the tinkerbell key. I'm constantly using keys for work, and my house key is usually always on me and I panic when I think I might have forgotten it, since I use it so much i thought it would be cute to have cute keys

my creation? Glitter Keys!!!

This is an incredibly easy DIY that you could do in no time at all. Feel free to get as wild with your glitter as you’d like, just remember to keep the actual key part of the tool free and clear of any grainy glitter...you still want it to be able to do its job!

For your own DIY glitter key, here’s what you need:
A key (goes without saying, but figured I’d include it nonetheless... LOL)
Glitter of your choice - the size and color are up to you. Mix & match a few different glitters for a unique combo color.
Glue - the stronger the glue, the better, but good old fashioned craft glue should do the trick, too :)
Tape

Directions: Section off the head of the key that you’re going to cover in glitter.
Tape off the bottom portion that remains so that it stays free and clear of any glue or glitter.
Holding the key by the taped end, cover the head of the key in glue.
Now apply your glitter to the glued tip. Try doing this in a shoebox or pan so that it doesn’t get all over your craft surface.

That’s it! Just allow the key to dry and voila, you have a unique, distinguishable, girly key.

Novel Nerd: Marked - Cast

Marked (House of Night, #1)Marked by P.C. Cast
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my goodness, this book!
I basically gave up on reading vampire novels because I never enjoyed them. That's right, I wasn't a fan of the twilight series at all. But since one of my favourite movies is Queen of the Damned, I always tried to give these dark novels a try. I thought I might start reading the vampire academy books but I couldn't find any in my local book store. However, I did stumble upon this which, at first glance I really didn't think I'd enjoy.

One of my closest friends has read all the books in the House of Night series and Loves them all, so for her I bought the first book In the series called "Marked".

I dont think I've ever read a book with so much interest before. I honestly read the thing in a span of a couple hours and loved every second of it. I thought it was so interesting, especially the weird moment that occurs close to the end where the main character sees the ghosts. the way it was described makes me think more will be explained about that particular point in the next book and so on and so forth.

Overall:
Loved it! Reccomend it for 13YO and up. You could be a grandma of 170 and I think you's really enjoy it too. I can't wait to read the rest of the books!

I want to take more pictures...

I realized that I don't really post pictures as much as I used to, I want to start again. I wanted this blog to be flippin fun because it was going to be all me all the time. Whatever I like, dislike, thangs like deyaat!! ;)

But I miss taking pictures which I used to do when I first started this blog and I'm doing again now (thanks to tumblr)

So hopefully, between, my camera and webcam, I can keep y'all posted with silly little pics of me. I really find them fun and I dont mean to be conceited by always posting pics of myself. I'll post pictures of whatever, I won't always be of me.

I just enjoy going back page after page and remembering. I really encourage other people to start blogs, REAL BLOGS. I love tumblr, and its fun but its all reblogging mostly. On an actual blog, its YOUR posts all the time. Its like looking back at a diary.

:) Its fun and people start to understand you better, especially when you feel misunderstood.

03 March 2012

Wrote this last summer! It was saved in drafts, forgot to post it!

So, I did literally nothing today, except clean, watch 7 episodes of Big Brother back to back, play this weird Facebook game that someone invited me to, and hit refresh on my computer over 1,000 times.

I wonder if anyone is as obsessed with Big Brother the way I am...
I hope so, I don't want to be alone in this.

I am one of those people who are fortunate enough to watch it on SHAW on Demand so I can watch it on my own time, never miss a single episode, and fast forward, pause, and rewind.

yeah, Its pretty amazing.

I have watched almost EVERY single season and I was
so pissed that Danielle came back but now I want her to stay in the game.
She's a good player and makes the game more interesting.

I'll be sad to see Rachel go ONLY because it was funny watching her annoy the hell out of Dani.
But I find her annoying too.

I really don't know who I want to WIN though. thats hard to decide.
I almost want Jordan to win because shes such a sweet heart. I dunno.
But I'm all excited that Danielle's back because I can calculate every move
she makes before she makes it. yes, this is what amuses me.

Alright enough about that show. I'm off to sleep now and probably have ridiculous dreams about it. Goodnight!
